Crews cruise (nearly) complete
That’s right. Aside from This Thing Don’t Lead to Heaven, I’ve managed to assemble a complete Crews collection in a little over four months for a little under $400. My copy of An American Family: The Baby with the Curious Markings arrived in the post today. Obsessive? Certainly. But all in good fun. I don’t have copies of a few obscure Crews titles, namely Two, Madonna at Ringside and The Enthusiast (the last of which is reprinted in Florida Frenzy AND All We Need of Hell, but whatever. Crews has his character Duffy Deeter say that ‘a man’s gotta have a little enthusiasm’ – well, Crews’ work has been my literary enthusiasm for the past four months.

Hi! I have an extensive, signed Harry Crews collection of hardback w/DJ books I will soon
list on eBay. I’m starting with a signed copy of “The Enthusiast.” I just wanted to give you a “heads up” on this. I inherited my collection through an AVID Crews fan / collector who recently passed away. She met Crews at UofFlorida, where she worked as a nurse in the Shands ER. My favoriet Crews tome is BODY; it SHOULD be made into a movie; funny as hell. Mr. Blue-eyed man is giving the devil his due, I’m sure.
All Best,
Nancy in Melbourne, FL
Thanks, Nancy, I’ll be sure to check it out. I actually have all of Crews’ books now. The only thing I especially want is the one thing that hasn’t been published, his second volume of autobiography.
